USA: Fr. Daren K. Williams elected Bishop of Diocese of the West

Phoenix, Arizona, USA, December 1, 2006- The Diocese of the West of the Anglican Church in America, at its annual Synod held in Phoenix Arizona, elected Fr. Daren K. Williams to be the next Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the West.

His election now requires consents, (ratification), from a majority of the Ordinary Bishops and their Standing Committees of the other dioceses in the Anglican Church in America and the international College of Bishops of the Traditional Anglican Communion.

Bishop-Elect Williams, 63 years old, married with six children, is a graduate of Nashotah House Theological Seminary, Nashotah, Wisconsin, USA, L. Th., is serving as Rector of All Saint's Anglican Church in Fountain Valley, California.

Prior to his degree from Nashotah House he took degrees at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan and The University of Michigan, School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in Organ and Church Music.

Prior to his appointment he was Rector of The Church of the Incarnation in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He has also served in various capacities in The Episcopal Church before being accepted into the Anglican Church of America: Christ Church Parish, Williamsport, Pennsylvania (Rector,), St. John's Episcopal Church, Springfield, Missouri (Rector), St. James' Church, Goshen, Indiana (Rector), St. Thomas' Church, Battle Creek, Michigan (Assistant and Director of Music and Locum tenens ), All Saint's Church, San Diego, California (Assistant, Vice-Principal of the Day School), and Nashotah House, Nashotah, Wisconsin (Director of Music).

Bishop-Elect Daren and Joyce Williams have moved to Huntington Beach, California which is located about 30 miles south of Los Angeles, California. The Bishop-Elect was also accepted the Rectorship of All Saints Anglican Church in nearby Fountain Valley. Consecration is scheduled to follow the necessary approvals at a time and place to be determined.

The incumbent Ordinary, Bishop James G. Stewart, will retire upon the consecration of the new bishop. In anticipation of this Bishop Stewart has taken up residence in Phenix City, Alabama.
